About Us

Our Objectives

  • To encourage and promote the breeding of purebred, AKC registered West Highland White Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
  • To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which West Highland White Terriers shall be judged.
  • To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials and field trials, and agility trials.
  • To conduct matches, clinics, and appropriate programs for the benefit of Club members and Westie enthusiasts.

Our Story

The West Highland White Terrier Club of New England, Inc. (WHWTCNE) was founded in 1972 by a group of 20 Westie owners and breeders.  The owners formed the club to better the breed through education and responsible breeding programs.

Our breed club holds four meetings per year. Our annual election of officers is held at the yearly Fun Match in June.  Meetings rotate among the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.  We gather on a Sunday for a full day of programs that are focused on fun and education for Westie owners and their animal companions.

If you feel you have something to contribute or are interested in meeting other Westie owners and would like to participate, come and join us in the “Wonderful World of Westies!”
